About Josh

Josh Jorge is a six-year-old boy from Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines. He likes to play golf.

Josh is the son of golf pro, "Jojo" Abad Jorge, Jr., who is more commonly known in local golf circles as "Jojo Abad".

Josh started playing golf at the age of 5. After playing once on the fairway, Josh participated in the 2008 Qualifying Rounds for the Philippine Delegation to the 2008 Callaway Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego, California.

In that tournament, Josh ranked as the 1st runner up and earned his slot as the youngest member of the Philippine team to the World Championships.

Unfortunately, Josh did not see action in San Diego last July 2008 due to financial constraints.

Last April 30, 2009, after 5 rounds of golf at the Manila Southwoods and Sherwood Hills golf clubs in Cavite, Josh emerged as the champion for the 6 year old Age Group in the Philippine Qualifying Rounds for the 2009 Callaway Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego, California this coming July.

As Age Group Champion, Josh won a free ticket from Philippine Airlines to Los Angeles and back. However, this free ticket only covers the fare itself and not the taxes and other charges.

Furthermore, additional expenses will be incurred in the course of joining the prestigious tournament wherein Josh has a good chance to make the Philippines proud by winning the championship in the six-year-old and under division.

It is our hope that this year, Josh will not be denied the chance to play in the Junior World tournament due to financial constraints.

UPDATE : June 18, 2009

Josh and his father "Jojo" will be having their interview at the US Embassy on June 26.

In an effort to help raise the finances needed for the US trip to compete, there will be a "GOLF FOR A CAUSE" on June 21, 2009 at Club Intramuros.

The interview at the US Embassy on June 26 was not favorable to the Championship bid of Josh at the 2009 Junior World Championships.
